Temple Reyim USY (TRUSY) is the award winning United Synagogue Youth Chapter of Temple Reyim in Newton, Massachusetts. In past years, Temple Reyim USY has won 10 awards including the Herb Musmon Honorary Award for Most Improved Chapter. TRUSY has also been the proud recipient of the Solomon Schecter Gold Award for USY and Kadima Programming.
USY is divided by age group, with grades 4-5 in Kadima, grades 6-8 in Junior USY, and grades 9-12 in Senior USY. Joining USY is easy, and costs only $40 for those in grades 4-8 who are members of Temple Reyim with a cost of $50 for those in grades 9-12, and $45 / $55 for non-members depending on the grade of the youth. Sign up today to take advantage of the many chapter, regional, and international programs available including sporting events, parties, overnights, day trips, social action activities, dances, and conventions.
USY Staff
Youth Director / Senior USY Advisor: Rachel Savage
Rachel Savage serves as Youth Director, Senior USY Advisor, and Office Manager. Last year, she served as Junior USY Advisor here at Reyim as well as nannying for a local family and working as Adminstrative Assistant for the Youth Department at Temple Emanuel. A former USYer from the Hagalil region (NJ), she is excited to be working at Temple Reyim and helping the larger Jewish community recognize Temple Reyim USY as truly being "the coolest and the best." In her occasional free time, she loves to travel with her husband, explore new restaurants, and read. She loves visitors, so drop by the Office anytime for a cup of coffee or tea and a chat.
Junior USY Advisor : Alyse Lichtenstein
Alyse Lichtenstein is a junior at Boston University, majoring in English education for high school and English literature. She has worked with numerous tutoring and mentoring programs in the Boston area, including City Year and Upward Bound. A graduate of SSDS and a former Ramah camper and staffer, Alyse is excited to bring together her Jewish education and her love of youth work with Jr. USY at Temple Reyim! In her occasional free time, she enjoys biking around Boston, reading, and doing crafts, and she looks forward to experiencing some fun, creative events with the Jr. USYers!
Kadima Advisor: Gabrielle Avery-Peck
Gabrielle Avery-Peck is a doctoral student studying sport psychology at Boston University. She is so excited to working at Temple Reyim as a Kadima advisor, and helping get kids excited about Jewish life. She grew up very involved in the Jewish community; attending Schecter, Prozdor, Ramah, and was very involved in the Hillel at Vanderbilt University where she completed her undergraduate degree. She looks forward to meeting everyone in the community and having a fantastic year with all of the Kadima kids!
