The Viola and Joseph Rosenshine Nursery School is licensed for 32 children, ages 2.9 through 5 years, who share three exciting hours each morning and up to 5 additional optional hours each day to become one large mishpacha (family). We provide a welcoming environment for all families.
The V&JRNS is in session from September through mid June. The school offers a developmentally appropriate program that balances both secular and Jewish activities. We provide a warm, loving environment in which children are encouraged to be sensitive to others, to touch and to question, to be both leaders and followers and to develop a caring attitude for each other and an understanding of Jewish values.
Jewish holidays and daily life are celebrated with joy and enthuasism in the nursery school. Through song, crafts, drama, and cooking, each festival is experienced through the five senses. In addition, we offer weekly Shabbat celebrations, an annual pretend trip to Israel, and intergenerational programming for our older children that takes them to the nearby Golda Meir House.
Weekly newsletters are e-mailed to parents and open lines of communication are always encouraged. Parent conferences are held twice yearly with phone calls and notes occurring more regularly. The school offers an environment where children have fun and are encouraged to develop a positive self-image that they can carry with them throughout life. Our aim is to meet not only the needs of the children but the needs of their families as well.
