Holiday Celebrations
Rabbi Shalva frequently takes part in our holiday celebrations.
The Rosenshine Nursery School received grants from Combined Jewish Philanthropies which enabled us to add a family component to our Chanukah and Shabbat units.
Through song, crafts, drama, and cooking, each festival is experienced through the five senses.
Colorfully decorated kippot, the recitation and chanting of appropriate brachot, and the integration of Hebrew words and phrases are part of each nursery school day.
Shabbat Celebrations

Rabbi Benjamin Shalva, our beloved "singing Rabbi," regularly comes to visit the classroom, and often brings along his guitar to lead the children in song.
At our weekly Shabbat celebration,
Sukkot family breakfast,
Purim costume gala,
Passover Seder party,
Challah baking mornings,
“Stay and Play” Brunch,
and at our family picnic,
parents and children share wonderful moments together.
Pretend Trip to Israel

One of the highlights of our year is our imaginary trip to Israel.
Bags are packed, the airplane is boarded and we’re off for a week of exploration.
The children participate in an archaeological dig, a visit to an orange juice kibbutz, a walk in the desert, climbing Mt. Masada and placing messages in the Kotel.
Of course, no visit to Israel would be complete without a day of shopping at the shuk, sampling Israeli foods, swimming in the Dead Sea and sending postcards to our families back home in the States.
Visit to Golda Meir House

Our children visit the Golda Meir House once a week for intergenerational programming.
Pajama Day Party

At our yearly Pajama Day Party we invite a special guest to join in our fun. These guests have included storyteller Andrea Kamens as well as singers Meryl Galaid, Jeff Klepper, Fran Friedman and several puppeteers.
Basketball

Basketball skill-building activities are led by local basketball coaches, encouraging enjoyment and appreciation of sports.
Reading Time

A Newton librarian comes to read to the children every six weeks.
Israeli Dancing

Judith Aaronson brings Israeli dancing to the children every month.
