Tot Shabbat & Mini-Minyan
Tot Shabbat and Mini-Minyan
Tot Shabbat (ages 6 mos.-5 yrs.) and Mini-Minyan (ages 5 yrs.-7 yrs.) are engaging, parent-led Shabbat morning services for children, featuring prayer, singing, stories, a Torah parade, and more, which culminate in a meaningful Shabbat experience for kids ages 6 months to 7 years.
Tot Shabbat and Mini-Minyan, which occasionally combine into one group, meet on the second Shabbat each month, starting at 11:00am. Intended for our youngest participants—from infants and toddlers through first or second graders—Tot Shabbat and Mini-Minyan are both welcoming for children and relaxing for parents. During the hour-long program, we:
- Participate in song and prayer;
- Explore the weekly Torah portion through games, activities, and discussion;
- Read and tell stories; and
- Enjoy Kiddush and Motzi as a Havurah.
At Tot Shabbat and Mini-Minyan children are given the opportunity to learn and lead prayers in a fun and friendly environment. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children and discover the joy of Judaism through their kids’ eyes.
A sampling of original stories, some of which were originally written by temple member Alan Radding for the Mini-Minyan service, are available at jewishfamilystories.com.
